Catedral de San Servasio: A massive colonial twin tower and the only cathedral on the region to face north instead of east.
Templo de San Bernardino y Convento de Sisal: Built between 1552 and 1560 to serve as a fortress and a church, it was constructed over a cenote and with stones from the main Maya Temple
Museo San Roque: Church that now houses a museum exhibits the history of the city and region and aspects of the Mayan Life.
Cenote Zací: Just in the middle of the city, an underground cenote surrounded by protruding stalagmites and tropical vegetation. People are allow to swim although it is sometimes dusty and with algae.
El Paseo de los Frailes: A colorful colonial street full of people and lifestyle.
Cenote Dzitnup: A gorgeous swimmable cenote where you can admire stalagmites and turquoise water illuminated by natural light that enters from a hole in the central vault of the cavern, across the road Cenote Sambula, a beautiful cavern pool.
Ek´Balam: "The Black Jaguar", a fascinating Mayan city located 26 Km north of Valladolid. A site that surges from the threes and exposes its glory, It´s history starts approximately since year 300 B.C till the Spanish arrival; covered 12 Km² with a population of 12-18 habitants. Ek Balam has 45 structures and is surrounded by two big stone and another one that unifies the central which in old time connected to other Mayan cities. |
